Kai Boyer Was Named the PSAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week

LOCK HAVEN, PA – Freshman freestyle/butterfly specialist, Kai Boyer (Reading, Pa./Wilson), was named the men's swimmer of the week in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) it was announced by that organization Tuesday afternoon.

Boyer established two pool records, set a school record, posted a pair of NCAA 'B' Cut times and put up a Top 5 time in the 100 butterfly and a Top 12 time in the 200 fly nationally. All of that helped West Chester outdistance Salisbury University (ranked 17th in Division III) on Saturday afternoon.

Boyer set the pool and school record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 47.79 seconds. He also topped the field in the 200 fly, touching out in 1 minute, 48.61 seconds to set a new pool record. His 100 fly time is currently fifth in Division II while his 200 fly time is 12th. Both of those times are NCAA 'B' Cut times.

Boyer is the second men's swimmer to earn weekly plaudits from the conference. He joins fellow freshman, Will Rees, who was the men's honoree last week. West Chester swept both the men's and women's swimmer of the week honors in Week 1 and now again in Week 3 with Greta Saville taking home the women's swimmer of the week as well.

A West Chester swimmer has been named Men's Swimmer of the Week in all three weeks of the season so far, making it three different swimmers each week (Till Schroeder, Rees and Boyer).

West Chester will return to the pool Nov. 19-21 when the Golden Rams host their mid-season invitational at the Graham Natatorium.
