Game Recap: Field Hockey |

No. 7 West Chester Runs Past Millersville, 4-1

MILLERSVILLE, PA – Ciara Margetich (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) scored a goal and assisted on another to lead seventh-ranked West Chester University to a 4-1 win over host Millersville University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) field hockey contest at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium Wednesday evening.

West Chester (9-6, 2-5 PSAC) moved into a tie for sixth place in the conference standings with both Slippery Rock, which lost to IUP on Wednesday, and Mansfield. Millersville (3-12, 0-7) is still in search of its first league win with two games left in the 2026 campaign.

Alexa Lehman (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) put the visitors on top early when she scored off a penalty corner six minutes in. Ciara Margetich (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) inserted with a pass to Finn, who found Lehman all alone in the middle of the circle. Lehman spun and scored to give West Chester a 1-0 lead.

Anna Finn (Windsor, N.Y./Windsor) would give the Golden Rams a 2-0 lead on a penalty corner later in the first quarter.

Allison Patel (Mickleton, N.J./Kingsway Regional) poked in a rebound of a shot from the top of the circle late in the third, and Margetich streaked down the near sideline, beat a defender inside the circle, and scored with about four minutes left in the game to close out West Chester's scoring.

Millersville broke up the shutout bid with just under two minutes left on a penalty corner of their own.

Golden Rams' goalkeeper, Erin O'Brien (Marleton, N.J./Cherokee), made three saves in the win while Millersville's two keepers made three saves of their own.

West Chester returns home on Halloween this Saturday for what has become an immensely important contest as No. 9 Slippery Rock visits Vonnie Gros Field with the sixth and final playoff spot in the postseason tournament hanging in the balance.

Saturday's tilt, scheduled for a 1 p.m. start, will also serve as Senior Day for West Chester's field hockey program, which will honor its senior class in a ceremony before the game.
