East Stroudsburg Tops West Chester, 27-13

EAST STROUDSBURG, PA – Future Robertson (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic) scored a pair of touchdowns, but visiting West Chester dropped a 27-13 decision to East Stroudsburg on Saturday afternoon at Denny Douds Field at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

West Chester (3-2,1-1 PSAC East) lost its fourth straight to East Stroudsburg (4-1, 1-0) in the all-time series.

The Golden Rams were held to 233 yards of total offense, while East Stroudsburg totaled 421 yards. Robertson gave the Golden Rams an early lead, but the Golden Rams were limited to just six points the rest of the way.

Robertson, who accounted for both West Chester TDs on the afternoon, rushed three times for 53 yards and a score while adding a 25-yard touchdown reception. WR Dylan McKenzie (Oreland, PA Springfield (MONTCO) caught six passes for 80 yards. QB Colin O'Sullivan (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Darby) completed 15 of 33 passes for 176 yards and the one TD. However, he threw interceptions.

Clinging to a 7-3 lead late in the first half, ESU'S Harold Hill IV intercepted an O'Sullivan pass at the West Chester 39-yard line and returned it 30 yards to the 9 with :23 seconds left in the first half. The Warriors scored one play later to take a 10-7 lead into the locker room – a lead it would not relinquish.

The Golden Rams struck first with a three-play scoring drive, with Robertson's 52-yard TD run producing an early 7-0 lead. The defense chipped in to help maintain that lead for much of the first half. West Chester came up with fourth-down stop in the first quarter. Then, when a 99-yard touchdown run by ESU's Ajani Walker was nullified by an illegal block in the back, West Chester's Elijah Motley (Newark, N.J./Weequahic) intercepted his first pass of the season on the following play to give the Golden Rams the ball at their own 20-yard line.

Walker got into the end zone on a 1-yard run in the third quarter that put the hosts on top, 17-7, before Robertson's TD reception in the final two minutes of the quarter pulled the Golden Rams within a score at 17-13. The Warriors QB Harrison Susi ran in from three yards out, and kicker, Ty Quintois, kicked a 40-yard field goal in the fourth to put the game away.

East Stroudsburg rushed for 318 yards and two TDs as a team to control the time of possession. ESU quarterback tandem of Susi and Matt Machalik finished just 9-for-18 for 103 yards and a TD and interception. They were sacked three times and went 0-for-2 on attempted fourth-down conversions.

Nicholas Rogers (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) led the squad with nine tackles defensively. Ricardo Delgado (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and Peaky Roseborough (Atlantic City, N.J./Atlantic City) each recorded eight tackles on the day as well. Motley was credited with three tackles, but more importantly registered two pass breakups and the interception for a total of three passes defensed in the contest.

Up next, the Golden Rams return home next Saturday night to welcome Shepherd University to Tomlinson-Fillippo Field at Farrell Stadium. Kick-off is set for 6 p.m.
