Five Things to Know
- West Chester picked up a hard fought draw against Gannon Saturday afternoon on Senior Day as the Homestanding Golden Rams played to a 2-2 draw against the 20th-ranked Golden Knights. Gannon took an early 1-0 lead, but West Chester answered with goals by Cannon Dalton (Dallas, TX./Lake-Highlands) and Maksym Komperda (Whitehall, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) in the 42nd and 58th minutes to take a 2-1 lead. Trailing by a goal with under 20 minutes to play, Gannon found the equalizer in the 75th minute when David Ivascu scored his sixth goal of the season to help the Golden Knights escape with a 2-2 draw. Jaden Howard (Townsend, Del./Middletown) made five saves in the draw as he improved to 3-1-1 in his last five games.
- Komperda, Peter Tichy (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom), and Lukas Bentsen (Erie, Pa./McDowell) are tied for the team lead in scoring with seven points (three goals/one assist) each, while Luke Newman (Mission Viejo, Ca./Santa Margarita Catholic) leads the team in assists with three. In goal, Howard has improved to 4-2-2 with a 0.82 goals-against average and four shutouts with 43 saves on the campaign.
- Millersville (8-2-1, 4-1-0) enters play on Wednesday afternoon riding a three-game winning streak, including a 1-0 win over Shippensburg on the road last Wednesday after a 3-2 win over Bloomsburg to finish a four-game homestand on September 26. Roy Parkyn and Zander Leik lead the team in scoring with six and five goals each, along with an assist each, for 13 and 11 points on the year. Juan Ortiz Escobar has two goals and three assists for seven points. In goal, Gavin Massimi is 7-2-0 with a 0.87 goals-against average and a hand in four shutouts with 19 saves on the season.
- Wednesday afternoon's game is the start of the second half of PSAC East play for the Golden Rams as the team heads into the contest at 3-2-0 after finishing the first half with a 1-0 win over Shepherd on Sunday, September 27th after a late second-half goal by Maksym Komperda. West Chester is currently third in the PSAC East with nine points, four points ahead of Shepherd (1-2-2; 5 points) and just three and two points back of Millersville (4-1-0; 12 points) and East Stroudsburg (3-0-2; 11 points), respectively. The top four teams on each side (PSAC East and West) will make the PSAC Tournament in 2026, with the top two teams in the East and West hosting Quarterfinal Round matchups on Sunday, November 1st.
- West Chester is 29-26-7 against Millersville all-time and 2-2-2 in the last six meetings, including a 2-1 loss at Millersville earlier this season. West Chester went 1-0-1 against the Marauders last year with a home victory to open the series and a 1-1 draw on the road, which was instrumental in the Golden Rams' late-season playoff push. In the first meeting earlier this season, Millersville took a 2-0 lead with goals by Brian O'Neill and Roy Parkyn before Tichy scored his third goal in two games to cut the deficit to 2-1. This was as close as the Golden Rams could get in the 2-1 setback.
