Five Things to Know
  1. West Chester handed East Stroudsburg its first PSAC East loss of the year and its first loss overall since a September 8 setback at Wilmington with a 2-0 victory inside Eiler-Martin Stadium on Wednesday night. Elijah Ostrander (Marmora, N.J./Saint Augustine Prep) scored the game-winner in the 44th minute, and Luke Newman (Mission Viejo, CA./Santa Margarita Catholic) added a goal in the 54th minute to lift West Chester to a 2-0 win.
  2. Maksym Komperda (Whitehall, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) remains the Golden Rams' leading scorer with four goals and an assist for nine points, while Lukas Bentsen (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and Peter Tichy (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) are tied for second on the team in scoring with seven points (three goals/one assist) each. Jaden Howard (Townsend, Del./Middletown) improved to 5-3-3 in goal on Wednesday night with his sixth shutout of the season as he lowered his goals-against average to 0.78. Since league play got underway, Howard is 4-3-1 with five shutouts and a 0.63 goals-against average in 720 minutes of action.
  3. Shippensburg enters play on Saturday at 2-5-5 on the year and 1-5-0 in league action in the midst of a five-match winless streak after playing to a 1-1 draw at home against Lackawanna last Saturday afternoon. The Raiders are in search of their first win since a 3-0 win over Lackawanna on September 23 and their first PSAC victory since a 3-1 triumph over Bloomsburg on September 9.  Kyle Ganley and Nate Herb are tied for the team lead in scoring with three goals each for six points, while Zac Slevin has two goals and an assist for five points on the year. Ryan Krumenacker is 2-5-4 in goal with a 1.73 goals-against average, 44 saves, and one shutout in 990 minutes of action.
  4. West Chester is keeping pace with the top of the PSAC East as the Golden Rams continue to fight for a potential home game in the PSAC Quarterfinals when the Tournament gets underway on November 1. West Chester (4-3-1; 13 points) appears comfortably in the PSAC Tournament field with 11 points and a 4-3-1 record, two points clear of fourth-place Shepherd and eight points clear of Bloomsburg and Shippensburg, who are 0-3-3 and 1-5-0, respectively. With its road win over East Stroudsburg on Wednesday night, West Chester remains squarely in the conversation for a top two seed in the PSAC Tournament, just one point back of East Stroudsburg (4-1-2; 14 points), while Millersville (5-2-0; 15 points) is just two points clear of West Chester entering the final weeks of the regular season.
  5. West Chester improved to 34-11-7 against Shippensburg after a 2-0 win, led by two goals by Tichy in the first meeting between the two squads this season. West Chester has won each of the last two meetings against the Raiders, including a win on the final day of the regular season against Shippensburg last year, which sent the Golden Rams back to the PSAC Tournament and eventually to the PSAC Semifinals. West Chester is 32-7-6 against Shippensburg in regular-season league matches.
