Five Things to Know
- West Chester enters play on Saturday following a 2-1 loss to Millersville at home on Wednesday, which halted a three-game unbeaten streak that included a 2-2 draw on Senior Day against 20th-ranked Gannon. Millersville jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before Maksym Komperda (Whitehall, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) cut into the deficit with a late second-half goal, but West Chester couldn't find the equalizer in the 2-1 loss.
- Komperda's goal on Wednesday was his third in the last four games as he scored the game-winner against Shepherd, the second goal and what for a time was the go-ahead goal vs Gannon and another against Millersville on Wednesday. With this performance, the senior forward is first on the team in scoring with four goals and one assist for nine points. Lukas Bentsen (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and Peter Tichy (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) are tied for second in scoring with three goals and one assist for seven points each. In goal, Jaden Howard (Townsend, Del./Middletown) is 4-3-2 with a 0.95 goals-against average and four shutouts with 46 saves in 855 minutes of action. In league play, Howard is 3-3-0 with a 0.83 goals-against average and three of his four shutouts on the season.
- Bloomsburg enters play on Saturday in search of its first PSAC East win of the season as the Huskies are 4-5-3 overall but just 0-3-2 in league play after a 1-1 draw at ESU on September 30 and a 2-0 loss to Roberts Wesleyan in non-league action on Wednesday. If the Huskies are to pick up a league victory, home would be the place to do so, as Bloomsburg, who was ranked as high as eighth in the United Soccer Coaches poll earlier this season following a 3-1-0 start to the campaign, is 4-0-1 at home, including a 2-2 draw vs. Shepherd in its last home game.
- Owen Hollobaugh and Andrew Beagle are tied for the team lead in goals with four each, and Hollobaugh has an assist as well, which gives him a slight lead over Beagle in points with nine on the campaign. Logan Savage has scored two goals and added an assist for five points. In goal, Drew Offenberg is 2-4-3 with a 1.64 goals-against average and 12 saves in 767 minutes.
- West Chester is 34-19-9 against Bloomsburg all-time after picking up a win on Rockwell Field in the first meeting against the Huskies this fall. 6-2-2 in the last 10 meetings, West Chester is 8-8-2 on the road against the Huskies since 2002 and has not won a regular-season game against Bloomsburg in Bloomsburg since September 2023.
