Five Things to Know
- The West Chester women's cross country team returns to action on Saturday after the 52nd Annual Paul Short Run was shortened last week due to heat and unsafe conditions. West Chester's team entry in the Brown Division 6K did not compete, as all races after 12:30 p.m. were canceled. A small contingent of Golden Rams did have the chance to run for West Chester last week in the Open 6K. Maddie Taylor (Northfield, N.J./Linwood) led West Chester in this event with a time of 24 minutes and 17.8 seconds as one of six Golden Rams to compete.
- West Chester has won the team title in every meet in which the Golden Rams have competed as a team this year, including the WCU Season Opener and Purple & Gold Opener in Coatesville, along with the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational back on September 12.
- Saturday's home meet is the final home meet of the fall season for West Chester as the Golden Rams will conclude the regular season at the Go-Fast River Run in Lock Haven on October 24 ahead of the PSAC Championships at Bloomsburg on November 7 to start what could be a potentially historic November for the Golden Ram cross country programs.
- West Chester returns to the course this weekend for the Golden Ram Invitational, which is also the final home meet of the fall for West Chester. The Golden Rams will compete alongside Coppin State, Delaware Valley, DeSales, Kutztown, Lincoln, Medgar-Evans, Notre Dame of Maryland, PSU-Scranton, and RC-Gloucester CC.
- After last week's Paul Short Run was cut short due to heat, Saturday morning looks to be an excellent day for cross country with highs in the low-60s under partly cloudy skies.
