Five Things to Know
  1. Despite a career-best 17 kills from Maeve Gallagher (Pottstown, Pa./Pope John Paul II), the West Chester University women's volleyball team heads into the final weekend of the 2026 season on the heels of a 3-2 reverse-sweep loss at the hands of Shippensburg on Saturday afternoon in the home finale. Saturday's setback came after a hard-fought 3-0 loss to Shepherd in the final Friday night home match of the season the day before, as the Golden Rams gave the perennially strong Rams and Raiders all they could handle to finish out October.
  2. Gwen Atkins (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) is first on the team in kills and aces with 228 kills and 37 aces, while sister Hailey Atkins (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) is first on digs with 302. Bria Stepp (Cranberry Twp, Pa./Seneca Valley) is first in assists with 38. Julia Kwitchoff (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara Wheatfield) is first in blocks with 104, while Atkins is second with 43 of her own.
  3. In contention for a PSAC East Regular Season title heading into the last weekend of the season, Lock Haven is slated to host West Chester on Friday at 6 before hosting Kutztown on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Bald Eagles enter the weekend on a three-match winning streak, including a 3-2 win over East Stroudsburg on October 24, and a pair of 3-0 wins over Millersville and Bloomsburg on October 27 and 31, respectively. Maddie Mitchell leads Lock Haven in kills with 246, while Olivia Taylor, who is also first on the team in digs with 551, is first in aces with 50. Natalie Gibson leads the team in assists with 812, while Payton Stanton leads in blocks with 56. Stanton is also tied for second on the team in kills with 163.
  4. Bloomsburg enters the final weekend of the 2026 season with the chance to finish the year at .500 (13-13) with a pair of wins over Millersville and West Chester, who the Huskies defeated earlier this season for their first and second league wins of the campaign. Bloomsburg split last weekend, picking up its first home win of the year over Lackawanna by a 3-0 final before falling to Lock Haven on the road by another 3-0 final. Katie Kuehl leads the team with 260 kills. Sara Kokolus is first on the team in assists with 562 and is second in aces with 34, trailing only Abigail Eagler and her 39. Emily Gustie is first in digs with 214, while Lydia Worthing is first in blocks with 61.
  5. Opposite Lock Haven, who remains in contention for a PSAC East Regular Season crown this weekend, West Chester is just 12-32 and has lost each of the last two meetings. With wins in each of the previous four matchups heading into a late-season battle at Lock Haven last November, West Chester has still won three of the last five meetings in the series. Against Bloomsburg, West Chester fell to 9-4 all-time and 2-3 in the last five meetings, after a 3-1 loss in Hollinger earlier this season for the Huskies' first-ever road win over the Golden Rams.
Up Next

Saturday's match at Bloomsburg will be West Chester's season finale, as the Golden Rams will fall short of a return to the PSAC Tournament.
