WEST CHESTER, Pa.- The West Chester University women's track and field squad was back in action throughout the weekend, competing at the Bucknell Bison Challenge and Multi and Widener Schuylkill Showdown Friday through Sunday. West Chester started its weekend at Bucknell on Friday and Saturday while also spending part of Saturday and the entirety of Sunday in the City of Brotherly Love for the Widener Schuylkill Showdown at the Ott Center at the University of Pennsylvania.
Bucknell Bison Challenge & Multi
West Chester turned in several strong performances on the track, highlighted by multiple personal records and a nationally ranked relay effort.
Demi Pavlides (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) competed in both the 200 and 400 meters, posting a time of 28.00 in the 200 to finish 28
th and 1minute and 04.04 seconds to place 16
th in the 400.
Kristina Tapia (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) had another busy and successful weekend, placing seventh in the mile in 5:21.74 in the mile before finishing eighth in the 3000 meters in 10:38.19.
Cassie Nugin (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) and
Ember Foster (Duncann, Pa./Susquenita) led West Chester in the 800 with top-10 finishes and personal-best times of 2:20.72 and 2:23.14, respectively.
West Chester also placed seventh in the Distance Medley Relay (DMR) in 12:55.53.
Widener Schuylkill Showdown
Nikolien Bezuidenhout (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) finished third in the long jump with a mark of 17 feet 0 ¾ inches (5.20 meters), while
Izabel Zajac (Auburn, Pa./Blue Mountain) led West Chester in the high jump with a mark of 4-9 (1.45m).
Kaylie Groff (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) and
Hannah LaFave (Spring Brook Township, Pa./North Pocono) both recorded top-five pole vault finishes with marks of 11-5 ¾ (3.5m) and 10-11 ¾ (3.35m), respectively.
Leah Wasko (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe) led West Chester in the triple jump with a third-place finish with a mark of 36-2 3/4 (11.04m), while Bezuidenhout was seventh with a mark of 34-4 ¾ (10.48m).
Emma Deyarmin (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) led West Chester in the shot put and weight throw, finishing sixth and seventh with marks of 36-5 (11.10m) and 43-11 ¼ (13.39m), respectively.
Katja Larsen (Spring City, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) and
Genevieve McDonald (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) paced West Chester in the 60 with top-five finishes in 7.84 and 7.85 seconds, respectively. Larsen and McDonald also led West Chester in the 200, finishing fifth and eighth in 25.74 and 25.88 seconds.
Cate Hildebrand (Chalfont, Pa./C.B. South) and
Morgan Pera (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) led the way in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing third and fifth in 9.34 and 9.39 seconds, respectively. Hildebrand also finished 13
th in the 200 in 26.44 seconds.
Molly Minor (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial) and
Abigail Hanneman (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J./Point Pleasant Boro) took 11
th and 12
th in the 400 in 1:00.12 and 100.15, while
Kamryn Fontaine (DuBois, Pa./DuBois Area) led West Chester in the 800 with a time of 2:49.82.
West Chester wrapped up its weekend on the track with a fourth-place finish in 4:03.43.
