Men's Track and Field Fifth After Opening Day of PSAC Indoor Championships

BETHLEHEM, Pa.-
Thanks to All-Conference performances in the DMR and 5K that headlined a strong opening day at the PSAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, the West Chester University men's track and field squad finds itself fifth after day one of the indoor championships with 16.5 points entering the second and final day of competition on Sunday.

After four of seven events in the heptathlon, Chase Hildebrand (Chalfont, Pa./C.B. South) is seventh in the field with 2,542 points, with his best finish being a second-place effort in the shot put with a mark of 39 feet 4 inches (11.99 meters). Hildebrand also recorded a top-five finish in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing fifth in 7.28 seconds.

West Chester finished third in the Distance Medley Relay as the quartet of Josh Miller (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville), Xaiver Jones (Philadelphia, Pa./Springside Chestnut Hill), Billy Zane (Springfield, Pa./Springfield-DELCO), and Matthew Remishofski (Wall, N.J./Wall) earned All-Conference honors with a third-place finish in 10 minutes and 10.44 seconds.

Miller added another All-Conference citation and eight points to the Golden Ram score with a second-place finish in the 5K in 15:12.63, just under two seconds behind senior Garrett Quinan, who captured the crown in 15:10.76. Miller's finish is the best by a Golden Ram in this event since Josh Coakley won the title in 2019.

Brodyn Wolfert (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) scored a point for West Chester in the weight throw with an eighth-place finish and a mark of 53-3 (16.23 meters).

Jake Jones (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine Richland) also picked up important points for West Chester in the pole vault with a seventh-place finish and a mark of 14-10 ¼ (4.53m) for 1.5 points alongside Gilberto Raphael-Ramos of Shippensburg.

West Chester sent three Athletes through to Sunday finals in the 400 as David Burnshaw (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) paced the Golden Rams with a fifth-place finish in 50.01 seconds. Bishop Lane (Wilmington, Del./Salesianum) and Terry Dweh (Darby, Pa./Pennwood) also earned spots in the Sunday finals with times of 50.38 and 50.50 seconds, respectively.

Evan McCracken (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) qualified for the Sunday finals in the 60 with a time of 6.91 seconds as well.
