WEST CHESTER, PA – Kendall Fortune (Jarrettsville, Md./North Harford) registered a career-high nine points (5G, 4A) on her 21st birthday, and
Marissa Herring (Landenberg, Pa./Kennett Square) and
Madeline Edinger (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) each scored four goals to lead 11th-ranked West Chester to a 23-3 victory over visiting Shepherd in a PSAC women's lacrosse match at Vonnie Gros Field Wednesday.
West Chester (12-2, 8-1 PSAC East) won its fifth straight while Shepherd (2-10, 1-6) dropped its fourth consecutive match. The Golden Rams scored the first 10 goals of the game and got into a running clock situation within the first 19 minutes of the contest.
Madeline Edinger (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) had three goals during the run while
Sydney Wasdick (Pottsgrove, Pa./Pottsgrove) and
Audrey Miller (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) each potted a pair. Herring, Fortune and
Lila McMahon-Skates (West Linn, Ore./West Linn) added one apiece.
Miller finished with a hat trick on the day while
Gianna Booker (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) scored a goal, assisted on three others and was credited with five draw controls. McMahon-Skates scored a goal and assisted on two others. Edinger scored a goal in the third quarter and picked up an assist to finish the game with five points off the bench.
Amanda Wolfe (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) netted her first goal of the season, and
Mia Bielhart (Shillington, Pa./Gov. Mifflin) scored a goal and picked up an assist for two points on the day. Wasdick was credited with a game-high seven draw controls in the contest as well.
Caitlin Trickett (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) was credited with three ground balls and three draw controls to go along with three caused turnovers.
Tori Thomas (Hanover, Pa./South Western) had four ground balls and caused three turnovers in the second half.
All three goalkeepers saw action with
Morgan Koons (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) getting the start and playing the first quarter. She made two saves and did not allow a goal to pick up her ninth win of the season without any losses.
West Chester heads to Bloomsburg on Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest against the Huskies.
