WEST CHESTER, Pa.- Similar to its match on Tuesday against the University of the District of Columbia, the West Chester University women's tennis team (8-7, 2-1) got out to an early 2-0 lead against East Stroudsburg (15-4, 4-0) on South Campus on Wednesday afternoon but fell to the Warriors by a 4-3 final for the Golden Rams first PSAC East loss of the season.
West Chester won the doubles point as
Ashleigh Grooms and
Alexandra Cave took second doubles by a 6-4 final, while
Sohana Thompson and
Felicia Manful captured third doubles by a7-5 final to give West Chester a 1-0 lead.
Delaney Tingle won her first singles match by retirement as Lea Stefanovic was forced to retire due to injury early in that match to give the Golden Rams the early 2-0 advantage. Unfortunately, West Chester dropped four of the remaining five singles matches, with Cave earning the lone other victory at fourth singles (6-1, 6-0) in the 4-3 setback.
