Ege Gunaydin competes in the finals of the 100m hurdles at Farrell Stadium

Men's Track and Field to Compete at Paul Donahue Invitational at Widener this Weekend

WEST CHESTER, Pa.-
After capturing the Bill Butler Invitational crown last week along with a strong performance at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic, the West Chester University men's track and field team is set to return to action this weekend at Widener for the Paul Donahue Invitational. Competition will begin on Friday evening and continue through Saturday afternoon as the Golden Rams make their second trip of the Outdoor season to Widener, following their appearance in the Danny Curran Invitational in Chester in March.

Last Time Out

West Chester's 4x100-meter relay, consisting of Nick Tran (Lancaster, Pa. Conestoga Valley), Damian Simpson (Easton, Pa./Wilson), A.C. Ross (Springfield, Va./West Springfield), and Evan McCracken (Johnstown, Pa./Richland), won that event in a time of 42.15 seconds. The Golden Rams' 4x400m relay team, consisting of Terry Dweh (Darby, Pa./Penn Wood), Xavier Jones (Philadelphia, Pa./Springside Chestnut Hill), Jordan Barge (Lititz, Pa./Warwick), and Bishop Lane (Wilmington, Del./Salesianum), placed second with a time of 3:26.51.

Ege Gunaydin (Delran, N.J./Delran) finished third in the finals of the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.22. Gunaydin placed fourth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:00.74.

 McCracken and Ross placed second and fourth in the 100m dash as well. McCracken crossed in 10.77 while Ross put up a time of 10.85. Simpson was sixth in 10.93 and Leraris seventh in 11.03. Tran (21.93), Simpson (21.98), and McCracken (22.06) went third, fourth, and fifth in the 200m dash.

 In distance events, Aiden Schwartz (Allentown, N.J./Allentown) placed third in the 1500m in a time of 4 minutes, 10.30 seconds. Ryan Wack (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) finished seventh in the 800m in a time of 2:00.59.

 In the field events, sophomore Colin Niedrowski (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) won the javelin with a throw of 191-03 while sophomore Brodyn Wolfert (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) placed fourth with a distance of 169-01.

 Wolfert finished runner-up in the hammer throw with a toss of 151 feet, 9 inches. Freshman Jake Joslin (West Chester, Pa./WC East) finished fifth (134-10) and senior Thomas Smith (Wallingford, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) sixth (134-9). Joslin placed third in the discus with a toss of 134-09. Wolfert was fifth with a distance of 131-03 while Colin Quinney (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) was sixth (129-11). Smith was eighth in the discus.

 Joslin and Smith finished first and second in the shot put. Joslin won the event, putting the shot 49-4.5, while Smith put the shot 47-11.75. Quinney placed ninth.
Xavier Campbell (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 42-04.

Jake Jones (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) finished runner-up in the pole vault, clearing 13-5.75. Seth Tshudy (Phoenixville, PA/Great Valley) was fourth, getting over 12-11.75 cleanly. Robert Karol (Easton, Pa./Easton) was seventh, clearing 12-06.

BISON OUTDOOR CLASSIC
West Chester sent six athletes to the Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell University. Junior distance runner, Josh Miller (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville), placed fourth overall in the Invitational men's 10,000m with a time of 29:40.03 that set a new West Chester University record while also hitting an NCAA Provisional mark. Mike Filipas (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) ran the 800m in 1:57.06. Jhaven Sims-Pagan (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) placed 12th in both the 110m and 400m hurdles. He put up a time of 15.16 in the 110m and 55.04 in the 400m hurdles. Brayden Teufel (Furlong, Pa/CB West) placed 19th in the 400m hurdles as well in a time of 56.68. Kevin Wickizer (Roaring Brook Twp., Pa./North Pocono) was 24th in the 400m hurdles in 57.13.

Chase Hildebrand (Chalfont, Pa.) competed in the decathlon, which took place on Sunday and Monday. Hildebrand finished third with 5,538 points. He won the 400m and the 110m hurdles. He was second in the 100m dash, shot put, and pole vault. He finished third in each of the other five events of the decathlon.

 Up Next

West Chester will be back in action next week with a small contingent making the trip to the Penn Relays beginning on April 23, while another squad will compete in the Paul Kaiser Classic at Shippensburg on April 24-25.
