WEST CHESTER, Pa.- West Chester University head men's and women's tennis coach
Tina Tharp and Director of Athletics
Terry Beattie announced the hiring of
Claire Uhle as the new part-time assistant for the Golden Rams tennis programs. Uhle began her formal tenure alongside Tharp on July 11.
"It gives me great pleasure to have one of my former players return as a Coach," stated longtime head coach
Tina Tharp. "I coached Claire as a junior, then again in college, and now I have the chance to coach alongside her. I'm very excited for the future of WCU Tennis."
Uhle, a 2017 graduate of West Chester University and the 2015 PSAC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Year, was a three-time First Team All-League selection during her playing career and finished her career first in career history in singles victories with 55 (55-19), while also teaming with Maddy Shaak to go 68-21 in doubles play. Consistently a PSAC Athlete of the Week honoree and an ECAC Player of the Month honoree, Uhle also had great success in Individual Tournament play, including advancing in singles and doubles in the ITA Regional and PSAC Individual Tournaments. A nationally-ranked junior-tennis player, Uhle helped West Chester capture the PSAC East crown in each of her three seasons wearing the Purple and Gold and helped the team advance to the NCAA Tournament at the conclusion of the 2017 season.
"I am incredibly excited to be returning to WCU tennis in this new role alongside Coach Tharp," Uhle began. "I'm really looking forward to helping the teams grow, improve, and compete this season. Go Rams!"
Uhle, who began her collegiate playing career at Northern Colorado in 2012-13, is no stranger to the collegiate coaching ranks as she made her collegiate coaching debut at Neumann and Immaculata University in 2018 through 2021. She also served as the head coach at Westtown School and at Penn Charter.
