WEST CHESTER, Pa.- Following a historic run to the Division II Baseball National Championship game, the 2026 West Chester University baseball team earned a final team award, the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award presented by Sports Attack for its work in the classroom during the 2025-26 academic year.
This marks the second under head coach
Mike LaRosa that West Chester has appeared on the ABCA listing after being honored in 2024 for its efforts in the classroom during the 2023-24 campaign. In 2025-26, West Chester posted a 3.14 term GPA for the Spring semester, while also winning its sixth Atlantic Regional Championship and setting a new single-season win record with 48 (48-12) wins. The Golden Rams' cumulative GPA for the academic year was 3.242.
The award highlights programs coached by ABCA members that posted a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale for the cumulative 2025-26 academic year.
Nearly 500 collegiate programs were honored by the ABCA on Wednesday, and West Chester is one of 91 Division II programs honored.

The American Baseball Coaches Association has a long tradition of recognizing the achievements of baseball coaches and student-athletes. The ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams are the nation's oldest, founded in 1949, and the ABCA's awards program also includes the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Awards, the ABCA/ATEC Regional & National Coaches of the Year and several other major awards such as the ABCA Hall of Fame and the Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award.
