Women's Volleyball Falls to Pace, 3-2

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- The West Chester University women's volleyball team (5-6) returned to action on Tuesday night in New York for a non-league clash with Pace (4-4) ahead of the start of PSAC East play at Shippensburg on Friday. West Chester got out to an early lead in the match with a dominant first-set performance but fell victim to a late-match run as Pace stormed back to defeat the visiting Golden Rams by a 3-2 (10-25, 25-19, 13-25, 27-25, 15-11) final.

Maeve Gallagher (Pottstown, Pa./Pope John Paul II) led all players with 16 kills, while Anna Richardson (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) added 13 of her own as two Golden Rams in double figures. Richardson also finished with 13 digs, recording a double-double in the setback.

Ada Koksal (Istanbul, Turkey/Terakki) led the team in assists with 41, along with four aces and seven digs. Elianna Freeman (Jersey Village, Tx/.Jersey Village) and Hailey Atkins (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) led the team in digs with 23 and 18.

West Chester cruised to a 25-10 victory to open the match but dropped the second set 25-19 to even the match at 1-1 heading into the third set.

The Golden Rams rebounded in the third, jumping out to a 14-8 lead after a CeCe Isenberg (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) kill en route to a 25-13 third-set victory and a 2-1 match lead. West Chester led early in the third set once again, taking a 12-6 lead after an Anna Richardson (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) kill and got to match point before Pace closed the set on a 4-1 run to capture it by a 27-25 final and force a decisive fifth set.

In the fifth, West Chester took an early lead but dropped the final set 15-11 as the Setters surged late to earn the 3-2 victory over the Golden Rams.

West Chester hit .214 (52-19-154) in the loss, despite hitting .364 (13-1-33) in the third set as the team rolled to the 25-13 victory to take a 2-1 lead in the match.

West Chester will open PSAC East play at Shippensburg on Friday at 6 p.m. before hosting Millersville on Saturday at 1 p.m. in its first home match since the opening weekend of the 2026 season.
