MILLERSVILLE, Pa.-After opening PSAC East play with a road win over Shippensburg on Saturday afternoon, the West Chester University men's soccer team (1-2-2, 1-1-0) took to the road again on Wednesday night for its final match of a five-game road trip at PSAC East preseason favorite Millersville (5-1-1, 2-0-0). The Marauders scored twice in the first 53 minutes, including a mid-first-half goal, and used that early advantage to hold off the visiting Golden Rams for a pivotal 2-1 win on Wednesday night.

Millersville scored the first goal in the 32nd minute, then added an insurance goal on a penalty kick just over seven minutes into the second half to take a decisive 2-0 lead.

Peter Tichy (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom), who scored both of the Golden Rams' goals in the win at Shippensburg on Saturday, scored his third goal in two games a few minutes later in the 56th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Despite outshooting its hosts 5-2 in the second half, the Golden Rams couldn't find the equalizer in the final 34 minutes as the Marauders held on for the 2-1 win.

West Chester and Millersville took six shots each, but Millersville held a slim 4-3 lead in shots, despite West Chester finishing with a 5-4 lead in corners.

Jaden Howard (Townsend, Del./Middletown) made a pair of saves in the setback, while Gavin Massimi made two stops of his own, including an important save on another shot off the foot of Tichy, which would have given the 2024 PSAC East Player of the Year his fourth goal in the last two games and tied the score at 2-2 in the 65^th minute if not for his intervention.

Tichy's chance in the 65^th minute was the last shot on goal of the match, as West Chester took a pair of shots in the last 10 minutes, but neither made their way on goal, while the Golden Ram defense held the Marauders without a shot from the 63^rd minute on.
