ELIZABETH CITY, N.C.- The West Chester University women's volleyball team (4-4) wrapped up its weekend at the Elizabeth City State Viking Classic with a split as the Golden Rams defeated Glenville State (3-5) 3-0 to open the day before dropping the final match of the weekend to ECSU (2-5) by a 3-2 final.

Match 1: WCU 3 Glenville State 0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-14)

After getting back in the win column with a 3-1 win over Chowan on Friday afternoon, the West Chester University women's volleyball team started its Saturday with a speedy 3-0 victory over Glenville State, capturing the first set by a 25-13 final before winning the second and third sets 25-14.

West Chester never trailed in the first or third sets, winning seven of the first nine points of the match and five of the first six in the third set after erasing a 4-3 deficit with a 6-0 run in the second to take firm control of that set.
Gwen Atkins (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) led West Chester in kills with 10 and blocks with four, while Anna Richardson (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) chipped in nine kills of her own along with two aces, which was tied for second best on the team, trailing only Brooke Forester (Langhorne, Pa./Conwell-Egan) and her four.

Ada Koksal (Istanbul, Turkey/Terakki) led West Chester in assists with 26, while also coming away with three blocks and three digs. Hailey Atkins (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) led West Chester in digs with seven.

Match 2: ECSU 3 WCU 2 (27-25, 25-23, 20-25, 16-25, 16-14)

West Chester wrapped up its weekend in North Carolina late on Saturday night against the host of the Viking Classic, Elizabeth City State. West Chester battled throughout the match and hit .347 (60-19-118) in its final match of the weekend, including a .409 (13-4-22) effort in the second set and a .444(15-3-27) effort in the third set, but it was not enough as the Golden Rams fell by a 3-2 final to finish the weekend.

Each of the three sets that West Chester dropped on Saturday night came by the slimmest of margins (two points), including the first and fifth sets, which required extra points, playing to 27-25 and 16-14, respectively.
Atkins led West Chester in kills with 15, while Richardson added 11 of her own, along with 10 from CeCe Isenberg (Berwick, Pa./Berwick).

Richardson also led the team in aces with four, while Koksal added three aces of her own along with a team-best 44 assists as she led the squad in assists yet again on Saturday night.

Hailey Atkins posted a match-high 14 digs, while Julia Kwitchoff (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara Wheatfield) logged four blocks along with three more from Forester.
