Academic Mentoring Program
The ultimate goal of the Department of Athletics is to graduate all of our student-athletes. The Mentoring Program exists to provide a service to student-athletes who may have requested extra support, have been recommended by a coach, are at-risk academically, or are on academic probation as in the Policy on Good Academic Standing.
Graduate level mentors will meet with student-athletes once a week to assist them in both utilizing existing university resources and also to monitor their academic progression throughout the semester. Ideally, all issues and concerns that may hinder academic progress will be addressed during the semester so that these student- athletes are in the best position to succeed. Such issues include: study skills, time management, course assignments and stress mangement. By providing mentoring services, reaching out to professors, and teaching academic skills, we strive to develop a strong academic base.
