Robert Ford begins his tenure on the coaching staff of the West Chester University football program, bringing over 20 years of coaching experience and a championship pedigree to the Golden Rams. Known for his high-energy approach and attention to detail, Ford specializes in developing dominant defensive linemen through fundamentals, technique, and disciplined execution.Â

Over the course of his career, Ford has coached and mentored numerous high-level athletes, including Deion Barnes, current defensive line coach at the University of South Carolina football program and former player and coach at Penn State football program, Ayden Garnes of the University of Arizona football program, Jalil Hall of the Purdue University football program, and Mylachi Williams of the Virginia Tech football program, along with hundreds of other talented players.

Prior to joining the collegiate ranks, Ford served as a key member of the coaching staff at Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School, where he helped lead the program to the PIAA 4A football state championship. His impact on the program was instrumental in building a tough, physical identity that translated to championship success.

Ford has built a reputation for teaching defensive line play at a high level, emphasizing alignment, assignment, leverage, block destruction, and pass rush fundamentals. His coaching philosophy is rooted in accountability, unity, and trust, helping student-athletes develop both on and off the field.

Beyond football, Ford brings extensive leadership experience from a distinguished career with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, where he served over two decades as an executive leader specializing in community development, affordable housing, and homelessness prevention. He is also an active Realtor licensed in Pennsylvania and Maryland, serving clients across the Greater Philadelphia region.

Ford holds a bachelor’s degree in Real Estate from Clarion University and a master’s degree in Sports Management. He is married to DaShawn and is a proud father of two sons, Rob and Ryan. The family also includes their dog, Koda, and cat, Sonny.Â
