Eric Anderson, Sr. enters his third season as an assistant coach with the West Chester University men's basketball team in 2022-23. Anderson is a Health and Physical Education teacher at West Chester East High School, and a graduate of Coatesville Area Senior High School. Anderson received his Associates Degree from Wesley (Junior) College in Dover, Delaware, his Bachelor’s Degree from Greensboro College in Greensboro, North Carolina, and his Master’s Degree from West Chester University in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
Prior to joining the Golden Rams’ staff, Anderson spent the last five years as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Wesley College in Dover, Del., where he helped the 2019-20 Wolverines win the Atlantic East Conference Championship (AEC), and an automatic bid to the Division 3 NCAA tournament.
Anderson was the Head Coach at West Chester East High School in West Chester, Pennsylvania from 1994 to 2015. While at West Chester East, Anderson averaged 15 wins per season, including 20-win seasons in 1998 (22-8; State Tournament), 1999 (26-7; State Tournament) and 2001 (22-7; State Tournament).  During his 23 years of coaching at the high school level, 15 of his teams appeared in the PIAA District playoffs and the 1999 team advanced to the Eastern Pennsylvania semifinals. Â
Overall, Anderson compiled a hgih school career coach record of 288-246 (.540). Anderson left West Chester East as the school's all-time winningest boys' basketball coach in school history. He was named the Suburban Advertiser Coach of the Year in 1998 and 1999 with the Daily Local News and Philadelphia Inquirer also honoring in with this award in 1999.Â
Prior to coaching at West Chester East, Anderson was the head coach for two years at Pottsgrove High School in Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania from 1992 to 1994. Under his guidance, the Falcons qualified for the District playoffs during his second season of coaching. Anderson also served as an assistant coach at Coatesville High School in Coatesville, Pennsylvania from 1985 to 1991, helping to lead the Red Raiders to six Ches-Mont League Championships. He has won Ches-Mont League Championships both as a player and as a coach. Altogether, Anderson brings 37 years of coaching experience to the West Chester University men’s basketball program.
Anderson played varsity basketball at Coatesville High School and while attending Wesley College, Anderson led the Wesley men’s basketball team in scoring during his second season, and was named the Program’s Outstanding Player of the Year. In 2020, Eric was inducted into the Wesley College Hall of Fame as a player. At Greensboro College, he was named to the All Dixie Conference Team for athletics and academics during his senior season. After Anderson's college career came to an end, he was invited to the Philadelphia 76ers, Washington (Bullets) Wizards (NBA), and hte Wildwood Aces (USBL) training camps in 1985 and 1986.Â
