Ray Jenkins enters his second season as an assistant coach with West Chester University. He earned his Bachelors Degree in 1994 from WCU in the Teacher Certification Program. Coach Jenkins also earned his Masters Degree in Administration from WCU in 2000.
Coach Jenkins was a member of the wcu Men’s Basketball team, he was also a member of the first team to win 20 games in a season, also serving as team captain his Senior year. Jenkins was a WCU Senior Award recipient for the men’s basketball program. He attended Neshaminy High School. During high school, Ray played for Sam Rines during his AAU time. He also was a Sonny Hill All Star selection before his senior year.
Coach Jenkins has served in the classroom or as a school administrator for 30 years. One highlight would be his selection as the Citadel Heart of Learning, Chester County High School Educator of the Year in 2006. He is currently employed by the Reading School District.
Coach Jenkins spent time coaching at Phoenixville Area High School, earning a District 1 championship in 1996. He also coached the girl’s basketball team at Coatesville Area Senior High School, earning multiple Ches-Mont titles and a District 1 Championship. His teams at Coatesville were normally a top scoring team in the state, his teams had 1 player score over 1500 career points along with two other players scoring over 2400 points during their careers. Four of his Coatesville players ended up playing for the WCU women’s team.
Coach Jenkins enjoys playing golf in his spare time. He is also involved coaching youth football for the nationally prominent Marsh Creek Eagles Program. His family includes his wife Jamie, Jackson 23, Morgan 22, Jameson 21, Jade 19, and Addy 19.
