Fr., Georgia Wright (Doncaster, England) capped off her freshman campaign in impressive fashion by winning a pair of national championships in addition to earning a trio of All-America citations at the 2017 NCAA D2 Festival at the CrossPlex. Wright broke the NCAA Division II record in the 1000-yard freestyle to open the meet. The freshman produced a winning time of 9 minutes, 48.87 seconds. She snapped the previous national record set by Southern Connecticut State's Kristen Frost. Her second championship finished the meet, claiming the top spot in the 1650-freestyle. Wright clocked in a time of 16 minutes, 22.92, which beat her seeding time by more than 15 seconds. She finished 13 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor from Grand Valley State.She also managed to add an All-America certificate in the 500-yeard freestyle by placing seventh with a time of 4:53.77. Overall, she helped West Chester University's women's swimming & diving team place eighth at the 2017 NCAA Division II Championships.
