Amanda Houck (Gap, Pa./Pequea Valley) was a force inside the circle this past week as she went 5-0 allowing just six earned runs while striking out 19 over the course of her 22 innings of work. Houck began her week on Thursday afternoon against Kutztown when she tossed back-to-back five inning complete games surrendering just three hits and one run in each game while striking out four in game one and one in game two to help lead West Chester to a sweep of Kutztown. Houck was back on the mound on Friday afternoon against Shippensburg when she went four innings scattering eight hits and six runs (four earned) while striking out two to help guide West Chester to the 10-7 victory over Shippensburg. Houck saved her best performance of the week for senior day when she went seven innings in game one scattering nine hits and one unearned runs while recording a season-high 10 strikeouts to pick up the 4-1 complete game victory. Houck entered in relief in game two and managed to work out of a major jam striking out the final two batters of the inning to escape the fifth with little hurt. The offense then did the rest as the bats exploded for nine runs in the bottom half of the inning to end the game and give West Chester a convincing 10-2 victory over Millersville.West Chester is now 7-1 in conference play and 22-9 overall to start the year. West Chester has been dominant at home since the beginning of PSAC play as in home games the Golden Rams have outscored their PSAC opponents 53-7 in such games. Overall West Chester is outscoring its PSAC opponents 64-20 over the course of the first four PSAC doubleheaders of the Spring.
