Stephen Thompson (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) had a great week last week scoring a pair of goals in the NCAA Tournament including the game-winner in West Chester’s Sweet Sixteen victory over Defending National Champion University of Charleston (Wv.). Against Charleston, Thompson scored just 13 minutes into the game with a laser of a shot into the upper corner of the goal, which lifted West Chester to its first Division II Atlantic Regional Championship. On Saturday afternoon against Adelphi, Thompson continued his stellar Tournament scoring the second goal of the game to give West Chester a comfortable 2-0 victory over Adelphi, which advanced West Chester to the Final Four for the time in the teams Division II History. It is also West Chester’s first appearance in the Final Four since 1961 when West Chester won the National Championship as a Division I program.
