West Chester University junior team captain David Goldenberg was named the PSAC athlete of the week in men's tennis as well as the WCU male athlete of the week.

Goldenberg picked up the decisive win in West Chester's victory over Millersville on the road Saturday. That win marked the first time since 1994 that the Golden Rams beat the Marauders - ending a personal 16-match losing streak to Millersville in the process. It also gives West Chester an inside track to the team's first playoff berth since the PSAC went to a "team" playoff format in 2004.

Goldenberg also defeated Lincoln's Michael Sangster in straight sets without dropping a game earlier in the week. His only loss was a 3-set tie-breaker to Bloomsburg's Lee Wexler on Monday. In doubles competition, Goldenberg teamed up with Steve Hlava to pick up a win against Millersville. He was involved in two of the five wins at Millersville Saturday.

Goldenberg is currently 10-5 in singles play this season and 10-2 in doubles competition with partner Steve Hlava. The duo is a perfect 4-0 at second doubles. He shows a 3-2 mark against opponents within the PSAC. Goldenberg is also 3-1 within the conference when playing at fourth singles - his usual spot in the order.

His 10 wins in singles play equals his career high in a single season from his freshman year. Goldenberg is 25-24 in his college career in singles competition. He is 24-24 in doubles play.
