Jessica Meakim continued what has been an outstanding final season for the graduate student gymnast on Saturday night at the Gymnastics East Conference Championships, tying for the conference title in the floor exercise, with a career-best matching score of 9.925 while finishing second in the All-Around with a score of 39.025, which is the second highest total of her career. Meakim was also the Inaugural recipient of the Gymnastics East Conference Woman of the Year award, recognizing her academic achievement, leadership, and service. Meakim’s outstanding efforts for West Chester this past weekend were nothing new for the graduate student as she was named GEC Gymnast of the Week, the week leading into the Championships after a pair of career-best efforts in the all-around and floor exercise to help lead West Chester to a thrilling senior night victory over Cornell inside the Sturzebecker Health Science center. As a result of her efforts on this night and throughout the year, Meakim was also named First Team All-Conference in both the floor exercise and all-around earlier last week.
