J.R. Gifford continued his stellar senior season for West Chester last week, batting .333 with an .867 slugging percentage over the course of five games for the Golden Rams as the team played to a mark of 4-1 on the week. Gifford collected five hits on the week (four extra-base hits), including a pair of home runs (a solo shot and a grand slam vs U Sciences in midweek action), and a pair of doubles later in the week vs Mansfield. This effort allowed Gifford to earn PSAC East Player of the Week honors for the first time this season it was announced by the league office on Monday. For the year, Gifford is now batting .314 on the season with four home runs, 16 RBI and 10 runs scored to help lead the West Chester offense. Gifford has also been solid behind the plate thus far this season, registering a .990 fielding percentage and catching one runner stealing to help limit opposing offenses.
