Makenzie Edwards (Atco, N.J./Hammonton) turned in an outstanding pitching performance for the Golden Rams last Saturday afternoon vs East Stroudsburg, twirling a seven-inning no hitter, which was just the 16th no-no in program history and the first seven inning no-hitter since April 2006 when Adina DeHainaut pitched a perfect game. In this victory, Edwards allowed just two walks on the afternoon while striking out a pair and avoiding hard contact for the majority of her other 19 outs on the afternoon. Edwards is also the first true freshman to spin a no-hitter for the Golden Rams since Sam Brinkselle and Micaela McSpadden combined to accomplish the feat in April 2014 vs Bowie State. Edward’s no hitter is believed to be the first no-hitter in a PSAC East game for West Chester dating back to the 1998. For the week, Edwards went 1-1 with an ERA of 1.95 and an opponents batting average against of .149 both of which were best on the staff, while also striking out a team-high eight batters on the week.
