PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - St. Joseph's scored two goals early in the second half to break a one-all tie at halftime and then held off a fiesty West Chester squad for a 3-2 victory in an Atlantic 10 field hockey match Sunday afternoon at Drexel University.
Brittany Cislak scored her team-leading ninth goal of the season, and third West Chester's last two games, to tie the game at 1-1 heading into the break. St. Joseph's had jumped out in front with a goal one minute into the tilt. However, Cislak answered for the Golden Rams (5-8, 0-2 A-10) in the eighth minute.
The Hawks (9-4, 2-0) anwered twice shortly after halftime to extend their lead to 3-1. Lauren DuBois pulled West Chester within one later in the frame off an assist from Alex Swayze. But, the equalizer was never to come.
Joelle Zarefoss made 12 saves in the cage for West Chester, who was outshot by a 24-6 margin. St. Joseph's also held an 11-4 advantage in penalty corners.
