Box Score

WEST CHESTER, Pa.
– Ralph Hegamin registered a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds, but it was not enough to hold off visiting Bloomfield, 74-61, in the WCU Tip-Off Tournament inside Hollinger Field House Saturday afternoon.

The Deacons ruined the collegiate coaching debut of first-year WCU mentor Damien Blair by running out to a 24-11 lead in the first nine minutes of the game. That advantage eventually grew to 16 points (38-22) three minutes before halftime.

West Chester came back at Bloomfield to close to within 10 shortly before the break. However, Bloomfield came out of the locker room hitting its first five shots to open up another 16-point advantage.

The Deacons shot 51 percent in the first half, but were even better in the final 20 minutes, going 13 of 23 (.565). West Chester shot 38.5 percent in the first frame as they fell behind 40-29 at the break.

West Chester will take on Chestnut Hill tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m. in the final game of the two-day WCU Tip-Off Tournament.
