WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Kenneth St. George scored 26 points and Chris VonTanhausen added 17 as host West Chester strolled past visiting Wilmington, 83-44, Saturday afternoon in a non-league men’s basketball contest inside Hollinger Field House.
West Chester (4-1) upped its winning streak to four straight with the win, following a season-opening loss. Wilmington dropped to 1-5 on the year.
The Golden Rams jumped out to an 11-4 lead five minutes into the game. The Wildcats’ jumper at the 15:02 mark was their first field goal of the afternoon. Wilmington didn’t score again until 6:23 showed on the game clock.
West Chester held Wilmington scoreless for 9:30 of the first half. At that point, the Rams held a 35-7 advantage and put it in cruise control the rest of the way home.
The Golden Rams held the Wildcats to 20 percent shooting over the first 20 minutes (4-for-20) and 31.7 percent for the game.
Ralph Hegamin grabbed seven rebounds and added eight points. Sandy Tanner registered six of West Chester’s 15 steals on the day. Wilmington committed 24 turnovers.
Antonio Sherrod poured in 21 points for Wildcats and Kevin Cooper had 15 points.
West Chester will be back in action on Wednesday, Dec. 3 when the Golden Rams travel to Lock Haven for a non-league tilt with the Bald Eagles.
