SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - West Chester University's first doubles team picked up a win of the afternoon as Mercyhurst strolled to an 7-2 win over the Golden Rams in a PSAC women's tennis match Saturday morning at Slippery Rock University.
West Chester (1-3, 0-2) received its lone win from Maria Kostaris and Claire Afrassiabian, who downed their opponents from Mercyhurst, 8-5. The Lakers swept the next two doubles competition, before taking all six singles matches with only one of those going the full three sets.
Teresa Grasso at No. 5 singles won a hard-fought match 6-3, 2-6, 10-8. Bridget Dougherty hung tough at No. 4 singles before bowing in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5.
