West Chester Falls To Millersville In Physical Contest, 4-1

Box Score

WEST CHESTER, Pa.
– Millersville scored twice in each half to open league play with a 4-1 win on the road at West Chester in a men’s soccer match on a blistering Wednesday afternoon.

In a match that saw the two schools combine for 30 fouls and seven cards, West Chester (2-1, 0-1 PSAC East) dropped its league opener to the visiting Marauders by yielding two unanswered goals in the second half.

Millersville (2-0, 1-0) jumped out in front early with a pair of goals 2:22 apart just 13 minutes into the contest.

However, the Golden Rams climbed back into it when Matt Aunet slid a shot from just outside the penalty area under the arm of a diving Matt Langione in goal for the Marauders.

Matt Wilson scored twice for Millersville, including the eventual game-winner. Kyle Loughlin registered a goal and an assist for the visitors. Wilson’s tally just two minutes into the second half breathed new life into the Marauders, extending their lead to 3-1. Pat Buffato made it 4-1 midway through the stanza.

West Chester returns home on Friday to take on New York Institute of Technology at 4 p.m. in a non-conference tilt.
