West Chester Tames Lincoln, 3-0

Box Score

WEST CHESTER, Pa.
– Michelle Powers, Lexi Kegerise and Kelly Martin joined forces to dominate the net as the West Chester women’s volleyball squad powered its way past visiting Lincoln University by a score of 3-0 on Tuesday evening inside Hollinger Field House in a non-conference matchup.

West Chester (16-12) was victorious in straight sets, 25-4, 25-7, and 25-17. Lincoln (7-18) was overmatched against the strong WCU offense, which set the tone early.

The Golden Rams controlled the tempo throughout the match, refusing to allow the Lions to gather any momentum.

Powers led all players with nine kills. The junior outside hitter continues to impress this season, pushing her total kills this season to a stout 219. Powers also recorded two blocks, adding to her PSAC conference-leading total.

Kegerise and fellow freshman Martin contributed eight kills apiece in the victory. Kegerise was dominant from the outside, hitting .615 in the match with no hitting errors.

Sophomore Lisa Campbell continued her display of valuable defense, as she has throughout the 2009 campaign. Campbell led the Golden Rams with 11 digs.

West Chester returns to the court this Friday at 7 p.m. in an important conference matchup, as rival East Stroudsburg comes to town.
