NEWARK, Del. – Ralph Hegamin had 15 points and Eli Daniel 14 as visiting West Chester hung on for a 67-64 road victory over host Goldey-Beacom College in a non-league men’s basketball game inside the Joseph West Jones Center Tuesday evening.
West Chester (4-0) opened the season with its fourth consecutive victory while Goldey-Beacom dropped its season opener after a potential game-tying 3-pointer hit the rim and bounced out at the buzzer.
The Golden Rams shot 66.7 percent in the second half (16-for-24) and 50 percent for the game (24-for-48) to secure their third consecutive road victory this year. West Chester outscored Goldey-Beacom, 46-43, in the second frame thanks to that shooting effort.
Kehinde Roberts posted 10 points in the win, joining both Hegamin and Daniel in double figures. Sam Scott registered a season-high nine points in his third game of the year. Sandy Tanner scored eight points and collected four assists.
West Chester has won each of its last three contests by a combined seven points, including one game that took five overtimes. Lincoln’s game-winning shot was off the mark last week while the Lightning’s game-tying look missed Tuesday night.
The Golden Rams host University of the District of Columbia on Sunday, Nov. 29 after the Thanksgiving break. Game time at Hollinger Field House is set for 3 p.m. It will be Fan Appreciation Day at West Chester University. All fans will be admitted free to the non-league tilt.
