WILSON, Pa. - West Chester University's women's gymnastics squad scored its first tri-meet victory of the season with a 177.375 overall score that topped host Wilson College and Rhode Island College Sunday afternoon.
Ali Aquila won both the vault and the uneven bars competition as the Golden Rams swept the top three spots in the vault. Aquila scored a 9.4 to place first ahead of teammates Stephanie Clark (9.325) and Melissa Filer and Felicia Massaro, who tied for third with a 9.275. Aquila also won the bars with a 9.050. Amber Miller was second with an 8.95.
West Chester also put three of its athletes in the top five in the floor exercise. Erin Simon placed second with a score of 9.075 while Lindsay Britt tied for third with an 8.875. Alyssa Driscoll was fifth with an 8.800.
On the balance beam, Melissa Filer tied for second with a 9.050. Jenna Ciatto was fifth with an 8.800.
The gymnasts will be back in action on March 13 for a meet at Brown University in Providence, R.I.
