BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Kevin McGrath hit three home runs and collected six RBI as West Chester University swept a doubleheader on the road from host Bloomsburg with a 13-7 win in game one and an 11-7 triumph in game two at Litwhiler Field.
West Chester (33-9, 18-2 PSAC East) increased its winning streak to a season-long 10 and have won 19 of its last 20. Bloomsburg (14-28, 5-19) dropped all four games to the Golden Rams this weekend.
Kyle Orensky led off the second inning of game two with a solo home run, his 10th of the season, and West Chester tacked on five more in the frame to jump in front 6-1. McGrath smashed a three-run shot, and Dameron produced a two-run single in the stanza.
After Bloomsburg responded with three in the bottom of the second, West Chester reclaimed two of those in the third on a two-run home run from Bob Stumpo.
The first four batters in the Golden Rams’ lineup went a combined 9-for-18 with eight RBI. Nick Spisak collected three hits, Dameron and McGrath three RBI each.
Bret Moyer (7-1) scattered five hits over four innings of work, surrendering six runs, only three of which were earned. Eric Carmichael came on and pitched the final three innings for his sixth save of the year.
Mike Rossetti (1-4) lasted just 2.1 innings for Bloomsburg, allowing eight runs on nine hits.
In the opener, Matt Cotellese joined the long-ball barrage with a two-run shot in the third. He later doubled in a run during a seven-run fourth. Cotellese finished game one 2-for-4 with three RBI.
In fact, it was the first four in the Rams’ lineup that did most of the damage again as the quartet was a combined 6-for-12 with six RBI. That group hit .500 in the doubleheader (15-for-30).
David Slusser (5-1) started and lasted five innings. He yielded five runs on nine hits. Joe Opalka relieved and pitched one inning, while Billy Huntzinger and Carmen Daddario combined to pitch the seventh.
