Overtime Goal Lifts Towson To Victory, 2-1

Box Score

WEST CHESTER, Pa.
– Kristie Blumer tipped a shot from teammate Christina Boarman past Joelle Zarefoss in the 81st minute, lifting visiting Towson to a 2-1 overtime victory over host West Chester University in a non-league field hockey match Friday afternoon at Vonnie Gros Field.

West Chester (5-2) dropped its second straight while Towson (3-4) pulled one game closer to .500 on the season with the upset win.

Boarman took a shot from outside the cirde that Blumer was able to tip past the keeper for the win. The West Chester faithful did not believe that Boarman’s shot hit anybody inside the circle before going into the goal. However, the goal stood giving Towson the victory.

Kelsie Ward had tied the game off an assist from Leah Angstadt in the 64th minute on a penalty corner.

Towson took a 1-0 lead in the 49th minute, converting a penalty stroke by Angie Brewer.
