Men’s Soccer Drops UDC, 5-0

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Ricky Williamson scored two goals in the second half as the West Chester Golden Rams downing visiting University of District Columbia 5-0 in chilly conditions Saturday afternoon at South Campus Field.

West Chester (2-3-2) won their second straight game with a flurry of offensive activity in the second half, refusing to allow UDC (1-7) to get into any kind of offensive rhythm.

WCU’s Taylor Eisenhauer opened the scoring, beating UDC goalkeeper Kareem Gray in the 19th minute. The teams went to halftime with the outcome still very much in question at 1-0, but the Golden Rams’ offense came out firing.

Defenseman Zach Weaver stroked a rebounded penalty shot into the net after his initial attempt was stoned by Gray. The goal was Weaver’s second of the season. Weaver also recorded an assist in the match.

Ryan Dicce followed Weaver’s tally seven minutes later, chpping a well placed cross from Matt Aunet into past a diving Gray.

Williamson closed out the scoring with two goals in a two minute span. Williamson beat the UDC defense twice in a row, planting two consecutive balls into the net, effectively sealing a Golden Rams’ victory.

West Chester has put up 11 goals in their last two games. WCU downed Lincoln 7-0 on Thursday.

The Golden Rams used three goalkeepers in the win. Garrett Bleiler started the game and got the win, but did not record a save in the contest. Peter Weiss and Kevin Marron recorded two saves each in relief of Bleiler.

Kareem Gray stopped nine shots for UDC.

West Chester outshot UDC 22-10.
