WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The West Chester women won five of six singles matches in straight sets on their way to a 9-0 victory over visiting Chestnut Hill on a cool Saturday afternoon at the South Campus Tennis Courts.
West Chester (6-1) looked dominant in both singles and doubles play.
Brittany Counts was victorious in No. 1 singles, winning in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Luisi Souto took the win in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-0.
Ali Fetter, Claire Afrassiabian, and Teresa Grasso also took their singles matches in straight sets.
Kara Shumock won her singles match in the No. 5 position after her opponent was forced to retire due to an injury.
Counts and Fetter joined forces to win the first doubles match, 8-0. Souto and Shumock won their doubles match 8-2. Jess Trahey and Allie Melhem also picked up a win in doubles play, winning 8-6.
