WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Ethan Dambert scored the game’s lone tally in the 26th minute to lead third-ranked Millersville to a 1-0 victory over host West Chester on an overcast Tuesday afternoon at South Campus Soccer Field.
West Chester (0-3-1, 0-2-1 PSAC East) took Millersville (4-0, 3-0) to the brink of an upset. However, a misplayed ball in the penalty area led to Dambert’s goal, and the Marauders’ defense saw that the one tally held up.
The Golden Rams had their fair share of opportunities, but the ability to finish continues to haunt West Chester as it continues to search for the club’s first win of the season.
Millersville outshot West Chester 18-6 for the game.
Rams starting goalkeeper Peter Weiss registered three saves and allowed the game’s only goal. Garret Bleiler relieved Weiss in the 63rd minute and recorded one save the rest of the way without allowing a goal.
Millersville keeper Matt Langione made four saves for the shutout.
West Chester will return home after an 11-day layoff to take on East Stroudsburg on Saturday, Sept. 19.
