MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Kenneth St. George missed a potential game-tying 3-point attempt at the buzzer as host Millersville hung on for a 66-63 stunning victory over visiting West Chester Wednesday evening in the PSAC Eastern Division opener for both schools inside Pucillo Gymnasium.
West Chester (11-3, 0-1 PSAC East) held a 15-point halftime advantage, but Millersville (6-8, 1-0) battled back in the second half and took the lead (64-63) with 21 seconds left on a pair of free throws from Jason Blake.
Following a pair of timeouts by the Golden Rams, Sandy Tanner missed a 3-pointer with 14 ticks remaining, but West Chester grabbed the rebound. The Rams called another pair of timeouts just to turn the ball over with eight seconds left.
Mike Seibert hit a pair of free throws for Millersville with seven seconds left to push the hosts’ advantage to three (66-63). However, St. George’s last-second attempt was off the mark.
Millersville trailed 35-20 at the break, but outscored West Chester by a 46-28 margin in the final 20 minutes to come from behind and steal the win. The Marauders put four players in double figures, led by Nigel Davis’ 16 and Palmer McDurfee’s 13. Jim Kelleher and Blake each added 11.
Kehinde Roberts led West Chester with a game-high 19 points. He was a perfect 8-for-8 from the foul line. He chipped in seven rebounds. Elie Daniel posted 11 points and three assists. St. George finished with 10 points off the bench.
Sam Scott grabbed a team-best eight rebounds and recorded five steals. Ralph Hegamin had eight points in 22 minutes, before fouling out of the game.
