PROVIDENCE, R.I. – West Chester University’s women’s gymnastics squad opened its 2010 campaign with a definitive 177.800-169.350 victory on the road over Rhode Island College Friday evening.
West Chester (1-0), witnessed five different gymnasts post the top score in each respective event. Rhode Island College (0-2) improved upon its team score by 4.5 points, but could not overcome the determined Golden Rams.
Alison Mitrosky and Felicia Massaro led on vault (9.275). Alli Aquilla was tops on bars (8.900). Kaley LaFleur led on the balance beam (9.500) and freshman Rachel Pearson registered the best
floor mark (9.400).LaFleur (36.100) and Aquilla (36.000) were first and second, respectively,
in the all-around.
West Chester returns to action next weekend when the Golden Rams host SUNY Cortland in Gym 6 inside Sturzebecker HSC at 1 p.m. The Rams will host an alumni reception to welcome back all its former members after that dual meet with the Red Dragons.
