WEST CHESTER, Pa.
– Allison Hostetter scored 17 points and Janelle Garber posted 13 to lead West Chester to a 60-49 victory over visiting Mansfield in a PSAC East women’s basketball contest Saturday afternoon inside Hollinger Field House.

West Chester (12-5, 2-2 PSAC East) squandered what was a 20-point lead five minutes into the second half to see Mansfield (3-13, 0-4) close to within six with just under seven minutes to play, before the Golden Rams could put the Mountaineers away for good.

Mansfield outscored West Chester by a 21-7 margin over that span in the second half to make it 49-43 with 6:49 left. However, the Rams answered with a 7-2 run over the next three minutes to push back out to a double-digit lead at 45-34.

Mallory Hafer buried three 3-pointers to spark Mansfield’s comeback bid. However, Hostetter netted six of her game-high 17 down the stretch to keep the Mountaineers at bay.

West Chester was able to build its large margin during a very productive first half that saw Mansfield shoot just 32 percent from the floor and make only eight baskets in the first 20 minutes. The Rams held a 32-18 advantage at the break as a result. The Mountaineers committed nine turnovers in the first half and were just 2 of 8 from beyond the 3-point arc.

Renata Neal grabbed eight of her game-high 13 rebounds in the first half as West Chester held a healthy 22-14 advantage on the glass. Megan Stewart dished out eight assists in the win as well.
