Men's Swimming Opens With 122-78 Win Over Shippensburg

WEST CHESTER, Pa.
- West Chester University's men's swimming & diving team opened with an impressive, 122-78 victory over Shippensburg inside Graham Natatorium Saturday afternoon. 

Freshman Phil Letcavage won the 200-yard freestyle in a 1 minute, 45.47 seconds. He also claimed the 100 butterfly with a time of 53.33. Fellow freshman Ryan Stahley won the 50 free and the 100 free in 21.83 and 48.35, respectively. Senior Kenny McCormick won the 200 IM (2:00.08) and the 100 breaststroke (1:00.34). 

West Chester won 10 events, taking the top two spots seven times and the top three spots five times in those wins. 

On the diving boards, Ryan Kusar (322.25 points) won the 1-meter competition and Jon Brittain the 3-meter (330.55) with both hitting NCAA qualifying scores in the first meet of the season. 

Tommy Rhoads won the 500 free (450.95) and Calvin Starosta the 100 back (54.08).

West Chester is back in action in two weeks against Division I Lehigh.
