Paul Demesy Named Academic All-Area Performer of the Year; Nagy Honored As well

PHILADELPHIA – West Chester University senior Paul Demesy (Saint Ulrich, France) was chosen the Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Men's Swimming & Diving Performer of the Year and is one of 11 student-athletes named to the 2025-26 Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Men's Swimming & Diving Team. The team is nominated and voted on by the sports information offices of 30 colleges and universities in the Philadelphia Metropolitan area.
 
West Chester fellow senior swimmer, Kolos Nagy (Szazhalombatta, Hungary), was also named to the 11-member team for his efforts both in the pool and in the classroom this season. He is making his second appearance on the academic all-area squad. Demesy is making his third appearance on the team as well.
 
Demesy was a three-time All-America at this year's NCAA Division II Championships. He finished fourth in both the 1000 (8:58.08) and 1650 (15:03.50) freestyles for All-America first team honors. Both times he set West Chester and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) records. The senior also earned second-team All-America status with a 10th-place finish in the 500 freestyle (4:21.71). Demesy ends his career as an 11-time All-America.
 
The 2026 PSAC Swimmer of the Year, Demesy claimed conference titles in both the 1000 (9:13.02) and 1650 (15:19.54) freestyles. He also earned a silver medal in the 500 freestyle (4:24.14) and a bronze in the 200 freestyle (1:40.17). Demesy was selected the PSAC Championships Swimmer of the Meet for the third consecutive year, leading the Golden Rams to their fifth straight team title. He graduates as a 10-time PSAC champion and a three-time PSAC Scholar Athlete.
 
Nagy was a four-time PSAC Champion this past winter winning the 200 backstroke, 200 butterfly, 200 IM and 400 IM while earning Men's Swimmer of the Meet honors at the 2026 PSAC Championships. He was also part of the 400 medley relay championship foursome at the conference meet while also earning 2026 PSAC Academic All-Conference. Throughout his four-year career at West Chester, Nagy was a three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete, a three-time Division II Athletic Director's Honor Roll recipient and a four-time WCU AD Honor Roll honoree. He was an 11-time PSAC Champion in individual events and two-time conference champ on relays. He was a Division II All-America honoree in the 400 IM in 2025.
