WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Michelle Powers and Lexi Kegerise each posted nine kills, and Ashley Focht registered eight, as West Chester University cruised to a 3-0 sweep over visiting Philadelphia University in a non-conference women's volleyball match inside Hollinger Field House Tuesday evening.
West Chester (22-10) used the non-conference matchup as a mid-week tuneup for its big match against Shippensburg on Friday. Philadelphia University (18-8) concluded its regular-season with the non-league match.
The Golden Rams hit .254 as a team, knocking down 44 kills. Allison Grammer recorded five kills and hit .357 for the match while Kelly Martin notched seven kills. It was a very balanced attack up front for head coach Kassie Bellaver's squad.
Helen Fitzpatrick dished out 25 assists. Powers contributed four assisted blocks.
Lisa Campbell registered a team-high 17 digs, and Dana Markol posted 12 digs for the Golden Rams. Nora Jingeleski had nine digs.
West Chester returns home on Friday to host PSAC rival Shippensburg in a key conference matchup that has playoff position implications. Both schools have clinched a playoff berth. However, Shippensburg sits in third place while West Chester rests in fourth.
