MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Christian Cox and Matt Baer each knocked in four runs to lead West Chester University to a 16-3 victory over Philadelphia University late Friday night at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
West Chester (4-2) made a winner out of first-year head coach, Mark Jackson, facing the team that Jackson coached during the fall. Cox went 1-for-3 at the plate with a double and sacrifice fly. Baer was 2-for-5 with a triple.
Eric Carmichael (1-1) picked up the win on the mound for the Golden Rams. He tossed five innings, allowing one run on four hits and striking out seven without walking a batter. Ryan Kreider relieved Carmichael and threw three innings, allowing two runs on one hit, walking four and striking out four. Dan Doyle finished up one inning, striking out two of the three batters he faced.
West Chester will be back in action at the Ripken Experience on Saturday with a rematch against Felician at 1:30 p.m.
