WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Ralph Hegamin and Kehinde Roberts combined for 36 points and West Chester held visiting Millersville to its lowest point total in a game since 1947 en route to a 58-38 victory in a PSAC East men’s basketball tilt inside Hollinger Field House Sunday afternoon.
West Chester (14-7, 3-5 PSAC East) halted a season-long three-game losing streak. Millersville (7-14, 2-6) made just three field goals in the second half, shooting a lousy 13 percent (3 for 23) over the final 20 minutes.
Roberts led all scorers with 20 points, including a 3-for-4 effort from behind the 3-point arc. He was 7 of 9 from the field and 3 of 5 from the free throw line. Hegamin netted 16 points and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds to complete the double-double.
Leading by just four at the half (29-25), West Chester went on a 14-3 run, after Millersville scored the opening bucket of the frame, to push out to a 43-30 advantage. That lead would eventually bulge to 15 with 5:23 left.
Mike Seibert led Millersville with 11 points. His 3-pointer at the 15:54 mark was the Marauders’ only basket over a five-minute span that allowed the Golden Rams to wrestle control of the game from the visitors. He was the only Marauder in double figures. Brandon Widener scored eight off the bench.
West Chester is back in action on Wednesday at cross-town rival Cheyney at 8 p.m. at Cope Hall.
